Frequently Asked Questions
How do I care for paper botanicals?
For long flower life, keep them out of moist areas and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
To take care of dust that collects on the plant, give them a light shake while they are upside down OR use a hair dryer on low to blow the dust away.
What if I don’t like the way the flowers or stems are sitting in my container?
If you don’t like the way the flowers are sitting, fill the bottom or the container with rice to hold the stems in place.
All stems and most leaves are wired, so gently bend them in a way that looks pleasing to you.
If your stems come with a pot, push or pull the stems that are set in floral foam to set them at a height that is to your liking.
What do I do if my blooms are fading?
Crepe paper can and will fade over time. While I do treat my work with a UV protectant spray, and very often paint them, you might notice some areas that are slightly changing color. I believe this is a beautiful sign of aging and makes the flowers even more attractive. However, you might want to change the place the blooms sit to one with less sunlight. If you are like me and like the gentle fading over time, simply turn the blooms so all sides get equal light.
The other thing you can do is to spray them with a floral spray. Design master makes wonderful spray for this kind of thing.
What should I do if I want to put real flowers or greens in with my paper?
Paper blooms and greens look wonderful with real or preserved botanicals. There is nothing special you need to do with preserved specimens. Arrange them with your paper stems and you are good to go.
To arrange paper flowers with real flowers or greenery, I suggest you put the real items in a floral water tube. This will keep the real blooms looking fresh and will keep your paper flowers from getting wet.
